The Falling Man
2009 Production
"For me, the fall in L’Homme qui tombe, is primarily that of an ego. Will the assumptions of the dancer, those provided by the mastery of a particular technique, resist time, fatigue, the weight of years? What is left of the dancer when these realities are taken into account? I require a solo no shorter than 45mn to be able to experience these questions in my flesh and answer them by dancing." Eric Languet
Back on stage for the first time in six years, choreographer and dancer Eric Languet revisits his dance itinerary, initiated in 1985, a journey that led him from ballet to physical theatre and instant composition. Through “l’Homme qui tombe”, he questions his existence as a 42 year-old dancer: what new territories does dance reveal when it is no longer based on physical performance? In this meditative performance, Eric Languet places the senses at the heart of the stage and questions gravity in all its many guises.
